Pros

Job security, recognized company, lots of opportunities if you can handle the micro managing.

Cons

Horrible work environment, ultra micro management. Work in auto claims were employees are monitored excessively, so much so, it takes away from enjoying the job. It's a call center environment on STEROIDS! Beware for those who are looking to break into the insurance industry. Training is great; however, once on the floor, every breath you take is monitored, every second has to be accounted for. - penalized (out of adherence for bathroom breaks) - Strict on phone call monitoring - managers and team leads listen to your calls, sit by you twice a week, have one-on-ones...really is too much. Coaching moments is constant. - Salary is very low for the amount of stress, and responsibility. Starting out at less than 30K a year is unacceptable.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
