Pros

WFH, Paid Training, Decent starting pay, lots of (Life Leave) PTO, Company programmed Community service events, great building to work in & vending machines with free beverages. Off MOST business Holidays & you feel good working for such a reputable company but that feeling goes away QUICKLY

Cons

It's a call center.... Point blank period. Depending on the recruiter, Express Claims is sold as the agent that's 2nd in line in the claim process. Normally moving Claims to the next point primarily from SUB. & CHIP Tasks. That wouldn't be a problem if there were reasonable metrics in place while doing both. State Farm is currently trying to combine what should be 3 separate departments in one & expects you to FULLY engage with every claim interaction to its fullest while simultaneously watching your AHT, ADH, Verint Changes, QFCs & do Subrogation under 11 Minutes. This wouldn't be an issue if you weren't taking 30-45 calls a day when it's slow. Shift bidding will have you stuck with a shift that's totally unreasonable & don't forget the Mandatory OT they will throw on you at the beginning of the week. Mandatory Subrogation after or before your scheduled shift & reporting it as well. This is all happening while AI tracks your EVERY call & every mouse drift. An instance where you don't move your mouse for a few seconds will give QA the grounds to subject you to review & termination so no quick seconds to get your mind right after every call. I understand making sure remote agents are productive, especially in a call center environment, but the microscope of what SF puts you under can be very stressful depending on the day. Essentially, it's a decent place to work if you do well in a HIGH VOLUME CALL center or if a career in insurance is your thing. But even if it is, you may want to look elsewhere to get your foot in. As good as State Farm is, there is still a HIGH turnover rate & some who may want to explore this career path further may not make it a full year because the phones will run them away. You will learn some of the intricacies of dealing with insurance claims but after training, none of what was learned will be applied.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
