Pros

50% discount, that's about it

Cons

I recently just quit my job at Steve Madden due to a plethora of things. To start, I loved working at Steve when I first started, my old manager and DM were incredible. After a change in staff, and we began being under more control of head office things began to get really bad. Manager/head office has no empathy for their staff, even when we came to them about concerns about safety, concerns with our manager, concerns with hiring, they did not listen to anything we had to say. When I told my manager this as part of why I quit, she agreed and said she knows head office does not care and will replace you as quickly as you began. We had very unstable hours (sometimes I would get 30+, other times, the next week, out of no where I would get scheduled for 10 hours, although I had full availability and was one of the regular employees in store), and management would threaten us constantly that if we didn't sell, we would lose our hours, even though the store I worked in has a VERY low volume of traffic. We were constantly told by head office that we were the worst store in the country, and that our employees were going to eventually be replaced because they wanted to "redo" the store. Head office was very inappropriate numerous amounts of times, calling employees and threatening them, yelling at us in front of customers when they came to visit, etc. I have no respect for this company, and I would not recommend working for them. It is an extremely negative environment, and they do not care about their employees/management at all. Bad pay, and unstable hours. Just no good reason to work there anymore, except the 50% discount I suppose.

Pros

A lot of free shoes. Decent employee discount. Good starter/beginner job. But if you can work somewhere else, do that instead.

Cons

Please read if you’re considering employment with this brand! This company is extremely TOXIC. They do not care about their employees at all. The training at any level is awful. There is no structured training system or operations and it creates lack of confidence and more issues and creates failure. The pay is poverty wages. For many years this company let amazing talent go due to wages. This company will not pay you well. And they nickel and dime pay raises IF THERE EVEN ARE ANY! This company does very well financially to be able to give raises and they don’t. There is a lot of favoritism amongst management so if they favor someone, they will take their word rather than look into the issue. The workload is absolutely insane. So much extra/unnecessary busy work that creates constant chaos. I’ve never seen a brand waste so much energy on unnecessary nonsense and they cannot execute anything seamlessly or timely. It’s like you are always running in a circle. They have no methodology to training or operations. In summary, you can make so much more money hourly/salary at most other retailers, so don’t even waste your time here. You won’t be able to pay your bills and survive. There is minimal work/life balance. The corporate office is all white girls, so zero diversity. HR department is low intelligence and does not care about people.
