Pros

If you are fresh out of college or new to sales, Stewart is a great place to spend a year or 2 getting some hard-knock B2B sales experience while making a couple bucks.

Cons

Don’t be fooled! The handful of successful reps Stewart puts on display are almost all industry “lifers” who have 10-20+ years of experience in copier sales. Their continued success is driven by earning repeat business from current customers as well as the stranglehold they have on virtually every lucrative territory assignment and/or account in the database. If you are rep who is not fortunate enough to inherit a decent territory or current customers (who actually want to continue doing business with Stewart) then brace yourself for a tremendous amount of frustration, no job satisfaction and low pay. Stewart offers a base-salary that is $5k-$10k LESS than most B2B Account Exe’s and the employee health benefits they offer barely suficed. Large commissions are few and far between as reps are constantly forced to reduce their price to remain in the ballpark with the competition’s offerings, therefore most deals are not sold with profit. Selling for profit is the only way to make real money. Selling for Stewart was a character building experience and would only recommend talking a sales job there if you are fresh out of college and/or have no sales experience, have thick skin, and don’t mind spinning your wheels for 40-50k a year.

We appreciate you writing a review and are glad to hear you feel your time here was the launching pad for your sales career. We are always disappointed to see an account rep who has invested a couple of years building their foundation leave before the return on their investment is realized. As a result, we'd like to offer some additional data to those who are reading this review... As you pointed out, in a new hire’s first year, the total comp can range widely. We recently analyzed the 2016 total compensation results for each of our first year reps and it shows $45k was low and $95k as a high. We also believe there are the intangible benefits of the training you receive, mentoring, and as you said, the B2B experience to consider as well. We think it's important to note that the “lifers” started the same way. They achieve 6 figures consistently because of the work they put in during those first few years. That is the nature of sales. By building on your investment year over year, the rewards grow exponentially. We take your advice to heart about listening to our reps. We have a team meeting each week and then individual coaching sessions between sales directors and the salesperson. Sales Leadership and HR are also always available to hear your feedback first hand. Our investment in our reps (new and experienced) is ongoing, as is our investment in technology and support. We’ve recently updated both our ERP and CRM to make the workflow easier for all. For those grads considering a career in sales, character building is someone we pride ourselves on. Take the time to interview with us, get a first-hand look at your day-to-day role, and decide for yourself if this is a good fit. - Joe O'Malley, President

Pros

I have had the pleasure of working at Stewart for the past 11 years. Stewart is a growing organization that has tremendous opportunity for growth in NJ and PA more importantly. Our 75 technicians, Dedicated Help Desk, Local Dispatch, and Local Billing are some of the things that make life easy here as a sales rep. If you work hard it will ABSOLUTELY PAY OFF! Aside from the great commission checks from working hard I was also just awarded a TRIP TO THE BAHAMAS for 5 Days for coming in 2nd place for a contest that Stewart was running. They give you plenty of great technology, Ipads, laptops, smartphones, and other tools to get the job done in a professional manner. Our unique footing in the market place also makes sales easier. We truly are the "Best of Both Worlds", Local Service with a National Presence, and we can honestly say that there is not another model like us in the NJ PA areas.

Cons

Any service company is going to have its room for improvement. Dealing with service is never easy especially in our industry. Stewart tries their hardest to make it easy though by offering a plethora of great bonuses and unique programs for our service technicians and reps. I rated everything at 4 stars because there is always room for improvement. Stewart is growing every day and implementing new techniques and programs to guarantee our service and make us a Top Option for any Document Workflow Process.
