Pros
Up until summer 2021, I really loved this job. It was fun, creatively fulfilling, and the flexibility was amazing for me as a college student. Unfortunately, none of this applies anymore.
Cons
- The process of styling, post-August 2021, was tedious, joyless, and miserable. Our job became, essentially, fixing the mistakes of a really dumb algorithm. - The efficiency quota was already tight, but with the implementation of a “points” system for efficiency, we were slyly made to work even more quickly than before, to the point of infeasibility. I remember hearing from a stylist who styled almost 300 Fixes in a week and still did not meet her points goal. - Part-time Stylists were treated as if we were stupid. There were massive changes made to the styling process (automated Fix Preview Step 1s) that were incredibly obvious to Stylists and significantly impacted our work, but when we asked our leads about the change, they ignored it, only to finally announce the changes WEEKS later and pretend they had only just been implemented. - The company culture is dishonest, isolating, and passive-aggressive. When I started, there was an internal forum where Stylists could communicate with one another, but they later took it down. It was often said that feedback from Stylists was encouraged, but in practice, Stylists offering constructive feedback were reprimanded and accused of not having “grit.”
