Pros

At the moment, this is a growth company, primarily through acquisition. This allows for new opportunities to shine when those acquisitions are made. Overall, there is a large focus on talent management between strengths based leadership, specialized learning & development teams, and a thorough hiring process. It's hard to get in, but as a result you get really good people for the most part.

Cons

Because of the transition from the small company mentality to the large corporation mentality, there is a LOT of extreme change in the air. The more recent trend has been to hire mid-level management roles externally rather than promoting from within, which often limits growth opportunities. When those external managers are brought in, they are incentivized to perform immediately rather than to approach with analysis and thoughtful change. This causes disengagement from employees. You typically see this in a department or two at a time, not across the company.

Pros

-Overall high level of talent that you work with -Massive Economies of Scale -Healthy bonus related to healthy company performance

Cons

- Poor Work/Life Balance - HR really only works for Director's and up, and enables their behavior regardless of alignment with company values. Just there to protect the shield - Upstream Marketing has little to know upward growth or trajectory even with years of high ratings on reviews. Must carry the bag to grow career at Stryker.
