Business Outlook
Pros
They have a great office in the We Work building in downtown Santa Monica
Cons
They will not compensate you for your time or work in their "trial run" despite promising to do so in writing and word. They will ignore your request for payment after you've dedicated your time and work to their company. It's worse than having interns, they use people looking for jobs in order to get free work disguising it as a "trial run".
They pick your brain for strategies and ideas without compensation.

It's normal for job candidates to interview unpaid or take on trial projects.
Re: the Work - As you can imagine, candidates have a limited understanding of our content requirements within minutes of meeting us, and as a result, most of the work provided during their trial run is rather unusable. We couldn't possible scale our content this way; a short look at the frequency of our articles and videos should make this clear.
As far as "picking a candidate's brain for strategies," this is a common part most any company's interview process and allows us to evaluate the candidate's understanding of their potential job duties.
StudioBinder's management are an absolute pleasure to work for. I've experienced nothing but helpful, insightful and communicative support from the beginning. There are few other jobs out there that allow a writer to first learn about a topic inside and out, in an industry they're passionate about, then share what they've learned to others equally as passionate. The platform itself is jam packed full of information and its tools are industry standard. No regrets whatsoever. Work/Life balance is also excellent
I have greatly enjoyed writing for StudioBinder's blog over the last several months. I have worked in similar positions for several other publications and companies. StudioBinder has similar expectations regarding workload but provides much better pay than those other employers, and my supervisor is helpful and communicates openly.
Cons
The directions in assignment templates have sometimes conflicted with feedback editors provide after reading article drafts. Hopefully this will be resolved with the new writing system.
