Pros
- I have been employed as a Driver at Stewart's Coaches - National Express for just over a year. In this role, I have various responsibilities, including planningy future job routes, private hire jobs and contract routes, as well as performing yard duties such as cleaning coaches and maintaining the yard while acting as spare. - My overall job satisfaction is quite high, especially when I'm on the road, where I have a sense of control over my work. - The job pays well, and I get good satisfaction from providing a good service and interacting with our customers. - The company supplied training and covered some expenses required for the job, for which I am very grateful. - Despite the issues, I absolutely love my job, and I would still do the job if I won the lottery. I enjoy getting up each morning and miss work on my days off.
Cons
- While I primarily work on private hire jobs, I've been eager to gain more experience in tours within the UK and Europe, but opportunities for this have been limited. - Areas for improvement include addressing internal politics, improving planning and management, and ensuring better work-life balance. - I've faced various challenges and have raised them with my superiors, although some issues persist. - Poor communication within the organization, particularly concerning job changes with insufficient notice, makes maintaining a healthy work-life balance challenging. While I understand that such changes are often unavoidable due to the nature of the job, it would be beneficial to receive more recognition for our positive contributions and personal sacrifices. Feeling unappreciated can lead to resentment towards these changes and diminish our willingness to adjust our personal commitments, highlighting the importance of better communication within the organization.
