The company was once a technology leader in solar. I greatly enjoyed working with my SunPower colleagues. Many were brilliant. A few of them remain at the company.
Cons
In 2021, SunPower was finally profitable and back on track. When the previous CEO retired, the board gifted the company with a “technology leader” from Amazon who promised to make “getting solar as simple as buying a book on Amazon.” It has not been going well. For the Amazon crowd and their leader, previous lack of investment during difficult times was labelled an “excuse.” Industry knowledge and industry leaders were disrespected. Amazon’s formula, which has worked for approximately one company to date, was the answer to any question. Now, the company is struggling. The board failed with their choice. SunPower isn’t anywhere near meeting its goals. By his own standards, the CEO should resign.
