Pros
Company might be a good place to work in 2-3 years after direction is established
Cons
This "merger" was more about what assets Suncor wanted of Petro-Canada's (OilSands) and not about being the largest integrated oil and gas company. Suncor is currently selling off most of the gas assets and will be getting rid of anything that does not benefit the OilSands focus - this is public knowledge. When this is all done, more layoffs will follow as who needs all the accounting, land, asset teams when the assets are gone. Suncor's employee base will soon be close to what it had before the merger. Management is intent on moving all systems to Suncor's even though the SAP system is an older version along with other information systems being less sophisticated. Many of the IS people have either been laid off or will be by the end of the year. High priced consultants have been brought in and they are struggling to figured out what to do. The longer the struggle the more money will be billed - (C3 and IBM) I see alot of flip flopping in the past 3 months where ideas are thrown around but the decisions are not being made.
