Pros
The actual campus is lovely. The facilities are state of the art. The budgets are seemingly endless. There are many excellent and truly dedicated employees.
Cons
Processes and procedures are not clean and clear. Human resources seems too political to always be helpful. For a campus with such active students in the world of social justice and activism, you would expect the non-faculty employees to be treated better. Sexism and inequities based on gender run rampant in some departments. People are promoted out of ease, not always based on merit, skills, or experience. There are many lazy or borderline unethical employees who seem to have immunity. No one really cares about the hard workers being treated fairly. Departments are very isolated from one another and lack of holding department heads to unified standards causes some very subjective requests of employees. Some departments are allowed to spend money on their employees while other departments are given a hard time about it.
