Pros
I worked as the Director of Education for the Charlottesville center for several months. During that time I saw the impact the tutoring services had on student achievement and overall motivation. Our kids became more confident and excited to learn. Several subject areas include SylvanSync which involves the use of iPads.
Cons
My experience ended on a bad note when the person who ran the Charlottesville franchise decided to close the center without notice. I was responsible for calling students, staff and newly enrolled students to explain that we could no longer provide for their needs. I found out the center was closing at 2pm on a Thursday...our first group of students arrive at 4. I do not hold Sylvan corporate responsible for this poor business decision, but the franchise owner.
