High risk, low pay - Tutor Sylvan Learning Centers Employee Review

Pros

Hard to find anything good about this job. I guess the possibility of working in the evening is a pro.

Cons

Minimum wage payment to have someone teach a child everything they need to know for their school is ridiculous. They are getting people who have advanced knowledge in high school topics and paying them a lot lower than market value. A tutor usually makes $20/$25h to teach one student. It should pay even more to teach 3 students at once.

Pros

I enjoyed the work I did do. Working with the children and helping with teachers was fun and I got to socialize quite often with staff and students.

Cons

I was fired for missing one shift because my mother ended up in an accident. I did not get to explain myself for missing said shift and was told to think about my actions for 4 days before being let go. Extremely unprofessional.
