Pros

I worked at the Sylvan in Hammond. I don't even think it's open anymore. I loved my boss. He was very laid back. My co-workers were easy to work with. The students were open for growth.

Cons

The pay is not great, and the overall style of teaching at Sylvan isn't either. For a struggling student, I would definitely recommend one-on-one tutoring. At Sylvan, they do three-on-one and the students don't get the individualized attention they need.

Pros

I enjoyed the work I did do. Working with the children and helping with teachers was fun and I got to socialize quite often with staff and students.

Cons

I was fired for missing one shift because my mother ended up in an accident. I did not get to explain myself for missing said shift and was told to think about my actions for 4 days before being let go. Extremely unprofessional.
