Pros
Use of Ipad for instructional purposes. Access to school textbooks, flash cards, graphing calculators, white board, and writing utensils. You can discipline students by taking away their tokens.
Cons
The manager is like a sheep dog nipping at the heels of the sheep (tutors). Too much unnecessary micromanaging. You feel like putting duct tape on the mouth of the Director of Education. The few problematic students will utterly spoil your day and rapidly deteriorate your mental health. Your ability to discipline them erodes away when you see an almost empty "Sylvan Store" that the directors don't bother to stock up. The directors push the problematic/worst students to the newest tutor rather than putting up with them or send them to older/more favored tutors. These problematic children tend to be elementary students. They are rat-like, unhygienic, spoiled brats. The words "demon child" will pop into your mind. They are unlike any elementary kids you have ever known. The weakest pay structure imaginable. I was only allowed to work 6 hours a week! This should be illegal! I looked at a competitor and I realized that I should have been paid double the rate. The female tutors will talk in obscene/ridiculous sounding baby voices to the children. As a man, I am speechless with disgust.
