Great to work when starting out. - Lead Teacher Sylvan Learning Centers Employee Review

Pros

You can work as little or as much as you want. I worked 5-6 days a week at about 25-30 hours a week. You work 3 kids to on teacher. If student is pre-K it is one on one. Curriculum was pre-made. No lesson planning. No work to take home.

Cons

Pay is low in comparison to private tutoring or working in a school. But you have the flexibility of doing another job or starting your own business.

Pros

I enjoyed the work I did do. Working with the children and helping with teachers was fun and I got to socialize quite often with staff and students.

Cons

I was fired for missing one shift because my mother ended up in an accident. I did not get to explain myself for missing said shift and was told to think about my actions for 4 days before being let go. Extremely unprofessional.
