Pros

None that I can think of

Cons

Do not expect a raise- Symbria will state this is due to Medicare cuts and COVID but there was a rate freeze for years prior to the pandemic. Pushing all seasoned therapists out to hire new grads at below industry standard rates. Lack of training or professional development opportunities. ESOP is a joke- please Google “Symbria ESOP lawsuits” This company will bleed you dry! They will sell you a dream that will never come true.

Symbria Response

We're sorry you found your experience with Symbria to be disappointing. During the pandemic Symbria provided hero bonuses to therapists, maintained health insurance for employees who were furloughed due to low census and called back furloughed employees as soon as possible. We regularly promote from within and we have recognition programs to reward and thank employees. It has been a tough few years for healthcare; Medicare cuts and low census due to COVID are real challenges. Symbria continues to do its best to support employees and the ESOP is one way we do so. The ESOP provides a retirement benefit to employees in addition to traditional retirement plans like a 401(k). ESOPs follow strict federal regulations under the Employee Retirement & Income Security Act of 1974 and must meet the employee benefit plan requirements of the Department of Labor. ESOPs. There are nearly 7,000 ESOPs in the United States covering more than 14 million participants. Symbria's ESOP has an independent trustee who, as a fiduciary, protects the ESOP participants. The trustee specifically attests to the reasonableness of a company's share price. Googling "what is an ESOP" will provide more information. - Deb Bragg, Chief HR Officer

Pros

Pros? You get a paycheck.

Cons

Micromanaging from higher ups. Unrealistic expectations for productivity given the staffing, support, and patient skill level. Significant pressure on staff to clock out while working to save productivity. Treatment time to the bare minimum so patients who need more therapy don’t get more. Spreads staff as thin as possible then complains when they can’t meet expectations. And somehow convinced employees to lie on Glassdoor to write 5 star reviews to get their ratings up because I’ve never met a single employee for this company who even thinks this company is mildly good let alone worthy of five stars. Every five star review since January is suspicious to me.
