      Pros

      Good benefits package/PTO. Work location feels like family. Journalism is still a focus. The company strives for high quality content.

      Cons

      Professional development and advancement can feel stifled at times. Sometimes local management prefers for you to “stay inside your box,” instead of moving the people with the best skillsets to the most appropriate positions. With the financials of local television news changing, there is too much focus on profitability. There is also concern about being packed and sold to private equity, who would suck out as much money as possible and leave the stations to whither and die.

      Flexible work environment - hybrid

      Cons

      Heavy workload, way below market compensation for the amount of responsibility, very limited advancement opportunities & uneven workload distribution among teams. In my experience, leadership made repeated statements about promotion opportunities in career growth that ultimately did not materialize. I felt that expectations were set that weren’t followed through on, which made it incredibly difficult to trust leadership. Transparency and follow through on career development could be significantly improved.
