Pros

TEK has a good culture and the people that work there are some of the best coworkers I may ever have. Uncapped commission is nice.

Cons

A lot of the problems and issues with TEK stem from the fact that 95% of the senior leadership; from the President down to your local DBO and Senior Account Managers and only worked for TEK there entire lives. With this brings a lack of vision, creativity and an increase in close-mindedness. In the majority of areas, the base salary is $30k with the potential for uncapped commission. Even the majority of TEK's competition in agency staffing pays more on base salary! Your are expecting to find people in a very crowded and small pool, convince them to take your job (even if it doesn't match up with skills/goals/interests you will have pressure to persuade them), coach them through the process, convince them to take the job and continue to stay in touch/get referrals/etc. This is what other recruiters do that get paid 2 to 3 times more money and don't have the constant stress of ridiculous competition and pressure internally and externally. This is why so many people leave TEK and get great jobs and why TEK is targeted by a lot of companies looking for solid recruiters. As far as the culture, if you don't have much of a family life, rally miss college, and love happy hours, you will love it! Everyone else (which may be the majority of people) won't. The environment is so political, you never know if someone genuinely cares about you or if they want to get noticed by the DBO and be the reason for your success. There is the potential to make a lot of money at TEK, however, your success is HUGELY based on the AM you are aligned to and their accounts. This is one of my biggest issues... You can be a great recruiter, however, at the end of the day, you can't control your success. It's a lot of luck and good fortune; you can do everything right and the candidate could still back out of an offer. You can have a newer recruiter come it, get paired with a great AM/accounts and they could shine over many others who know and can do the job better, however, the perception is that this new person "gets it." At the end of the day, l plenty of people leave TEK and do very well for themselves. It's a great place to learn the ins and outs of recruiting. It's like a hunger games/boot camp and if you can make it through for 2-5 years and want to stay in recruiting/HR, you will do very well for yourself!

Pros

Recruiters are friendly and engaged *at first

Cons

My experience with TEKsystems revealed major issues in how candidates are managed and communicated with. After completing all onboarding requirements and being told I was cleared for a role, I was even welcomed by the client as part of the team and informed that I would be starting soon. At that point, I reasonably expected a smooth transition into the position. Instead, communication from the recruiting team became inconsistent and, eventually, nonexistent. Several promised updates never arrived. I had to initiate contact repeatedly just to confirm basic information, and responses often came late, from different people, or with no context. At one point, I was told the team “wasn’t aware I was still available,” despite multiple documented interactions showing I had remained fully engaged and ready to begin. The most concerning part was being asked to re‑interview for a role I had already been cleared for — a clear sign that my status was not being tracked internally. Even after that second interview, I received no follow‑up from the recruiters who were supposed to be coordinating the process. I ultimately learned the client had moved forward with someone else, but only because I reached out directly. TEKsystems never communicated this themselves, nor did they provide any explanation for the breakdown in communication. TEKsystems works with reputable clients and offers solid opportunities, but candidates should be prepared to advocate for themselves constantly. In my experience, even being fully onboarded, welcomed by the client, and told I was part of the team did not guarantee proper follow‑through. Clear, consistent, and accountable communication is essential in staffing — and unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
