Repetitive tasks with demanding hours and pressure - Cashier TJ Maxx Employee Review

Pros

It was pretty easy but repetitive

Cons

Made me work way more than I asked for from the start and continued to keep doing so after multiple times of me telling them. I was a junior in high school, and I couldn’t work 25 hours a week, like they were scheduling me, with school and extracurriculars. Extremely difficult to ask off and was always questioned. Nobody ever wants to open the credit cards, but managers have a private talk with you if you don’t meet your amount.

Pros

Good pay and flexible hours

Cons

The workplace culture felt highly driven by informalities, which often made it difficult to resolve issues professionally. Management responses to workplace concerns often felt inconsistent, and similar incidents appeared to be handled differently depending on the individuals involved. Employee morale appeared low, and turnover seemed higher than expected during my time there. Lack of support during peak periods and backroom inefficiencies. The work environment felt unsustainable due to unresolved management issues, communication breakdowns, and inconsistent handling of workplace conflicts.
