Pros

OTR is straightforward, sometimes hard work. The longer you stay out at a time the more you can make. The trucks are comfortable and beautiful. You will always have someone available to talk to if you hit a snag with a delivery and need office help. Though pay may vary, there will pretty much always be loads. Training depends on you as a person and how much you trust your trainees but it can be very rewarding monetarily. It's very demanding on sleep schedule if you want to work alongside your trainee rather than trusting them to take long drives. Local in Atlanta is a pretty solid account. Things go awry with loads and wait times somewhat regularly but the pay is solid for the work.

Cons

If you go home weekly and find yourself near home on a Friday dropoff, they'll often dispatch you at the end of the day to take care of everyone that's not near home first, which feels like a punishment for a job well done. Training experiences change from trainee to trainee but it's not mandatory that you become a trainer. Local in ATL can be a PAIN with the traffic. You can expect a simple day then end up running your whole clock out sometimes. Some of the customer sites don't value your time in the slightest, though the majority of them are pretty fair about getting you out of there in a reasonable amount of time. Winter season tends to be really slow so save up ahead of time if you make big holiday plans.
