Pros

I enjoy my work. I have to move on though.

Cons

This job is for someone that does not have a young family (recently married w/ babies). Travel is 100%. I do greatly enjoy the job, but it can be physically demanding. I started this job after time in the service and a year of finishing my degree. Trumpf wants a degree for this job, but it is not needed. The administrative part of the job can be a burden. Also, your promotions are based off of your admin turn in times. I have a very young family and this job has taken a major toll on us. Managers and senior FSE's are awesome, but again the travel. I have seen Trumpf's competitors with "local" sales/repair facilities near my house. I signed a non-compete clause. The money and travel benefits are great. (I negotiated my wage. Trumpf actually pays lower than other industry FSE's). Diagrams , schematics and project managers always change. Working a job, project managers have always been my problem. They have zero real world experiance and do not understand basic tooling or measurements. I have been on over 60 missions and each one has never run well. There is always an issue. Nothing installs perfectly. Always missing parts or the site survey was messed up. Overall not a bad company and people care about each other...but the face of company (The FSE) is treated like an adopted teenage child sometimes whose mother smoked while in the womb and forced to play football.
