Pros

Good coworkers Nice environment Friendly atmosphere

Cons

Pay was way too little for the work I was doing. I had to do everything including promotional material, marketing, and merchandising in addition to being a sales associate. Originally there was a merchandising person, but Talbots was too cheap to hire them. Despite their clothes being ridiculously expensive they only pay minimum wage. Very slow days which can be a good and bad thing. Customers can be rude and demanding. They wanted us to get customers to make style appointments and write them letters, which is another two jobs in addition to selling clothes. Only had half an hour to open/close the store, which was never enough time to do all the tasks they wanted us to do. Asked for three morning shifts per week, ended up getting put five closing shifts a week. Always went home late.

Pros

None. This company is garbage compared to how it used to be.

Cons

Slave wages, not enough hours for anyone except management because the private equity company that owns us has cut our staff to a skeleton crew even on busy days. Management and associate alike are stretched super thin to the point of exhaustion. Even as a sales associate, there was a time I supported myself on a Talbots salary. Now I have to choose between paying my car insurance or getting an oil change. I used to get 30+ hours a week even as a sales associate. Now I'm lucky if I get 20. Health benefits are a rip-off. The company in my observation has had a time finding and maintaining good workers. If you value your livelihood, run fast and run far.
