Pros
Pay is good for retail (but not good for the level of responsibility you have) Good leadership development
Cons
Unrealistic expectations for performance Not enough payroll to get the job done Work life balance is non existent Increasing responsibility with no pay increase Typical retail politics No expectation to receive a lunch break, you're lucky to sit down for a couple of minutes uninterrupted 50 hour minimum work week, can be closer to 60+ hours (no additional pay of course b/c salaried) especially during 4th quarter. Expected to answer work-related calls and email at all times of day Working holidays ( a given in any retail job at the store level) To sum it up, if you're single, and don't care about having a social life, this may be the job for you. For everyone else, if you have to work here to pay the bills, make sure you keep you're resume updated and find something better. Anyone who's worked here for any length of time can tell you stories about strained family relationships, health issues due to over-exhaustion and work related stress, and how this job becomes all-consuming; you're expected to live and breath Target as an ETL. Once you leave, it can take months to recover and assimilate back into normal, non-retail life.
