Pros

Get to work with a large range of technologies and some of the newer technology stacks. Payed trips to developer conferences Cares about employee training and development Willing to pay for developer tools/productivity software Open to suggestions about how to improve the overall development process

Cons

You have to punch a clock (as a salaried employee) and your day starts at 8:00 (With no flexibility). The owners are sticklers for this and keep track of the number of days which you were late to work, and if you have too many it will affect your yearly review. The schedule during tax season is absolutely crazy. Mandatory 12 hour days and weekends with some periods where you work both Saturday and Sunday. So much so that when a snow storm was forecast for the area the management mandated that all full time employees should spend the night and sleep in their offices. Low pay and a token bonus program. Phantom benefits that look good as bullet points, but have conditions which make them unusable. The raise schedule is terrible as well. Your review happens at the end of tax season (only if you were there for the entire tax season), but your raise doesn't take affect until January of the following year. Lots of meetings (at 8:00 AM).

Pros

Worked in my home office, good pay, opportunity to be placed on permanently if desired and selected. The supervisors were very supportive!

Cons

Some customers would place blame on agent for their tax mistakes (TaxSlayer is a self-prep software) and would yell over the phone, creating unnecessary stress.
