Pros

I left my job as an independent contractor in SC to return to Upstate NY as a Team Health employed physician because of the benefits package and a higher hourly wage (at a time in my career where there was a necessity). This move achieved the goal required. It is an enjoyable working atmosphere, and I hope to remain at my job for the remainder of my career.

Cons

I am a Family Practice boarded physician, working in the ER at a facility which is striving to achieve 100% ED trained/boarded physician staffing. Having been in practice for over three decades in Family and Emergency Medicine, I feel like a bit of an outsider sometimes. I guess that's not always a bad thing. More than half of the patient's I see are at a Family Practice level of care.

Pros

I’ve had a very positive experience working at TeamHealth. The organization truly prioritizes both its patients and its employees, which creates a strong sense of purpose in the work we do every day. One of the standout aspects is the collaborative and supportive culture. Leadership is approachable, communicative, and invested in helping teams succeed. There’s a genuine focus on continuous improvement, and employees are encouraged to share ideas and be part of driving change. TeamHealth also offers strong opportunities for growth and development. Whether it’s through formal programs or on-the-job learning, there’s a clear commitment to helping employees advance their careers. The company does a great job recognizing contributions and fostering a sense of belonging across teams. Pros: Supportive and engaged leadership Collaborative, team-oriented culture Opportunities for career growth and development Meaningful work that impacts patient care

Cons

Like many growing organizations, processes can evolve quickly, which requires adaptability

Pros

Staffed the ER’s at Advent, which is a massive hospital with lots of resources and support. Hourly pay was competitive (little/no bonus pay though - not on par with other local companies).

Cons

Too much cutting or changing APC hours and shifts last minute based on “predicted volume” - which is a staffing model that never works! Budget cuts shouldn’t come from safe staffing. APCs keep departments running! Stop taking that for granted and keep scheduling consistent. They also don’t seem to care about losing good APC’s. They’ll just hire new grads to replace you. Too many arbitrary rules on physician oversight/practice guidelines without clear parameters. Every campus uses their APCs differently, which is confusing.
