Pros

A major university in a great city. Significant opportunities to advance one's scholarship. Engaged and committed students. Technology investments that beat most of the Ivy league. Recent redevelopment projects in the North Philadelphia neighborhood should have a significant impact.

Cons

Some of the administration issues are a challenge. A new incoming president is an unknown entity. Unless you can utilize transit, getting to the Main Campus can be challenging by car.

Pros

Beautiful, clean, and conveniently located campus. Great food trucks! Lots of space to go for a walk and clear your head or sit on a bench and look at some trees. Nice benefits.

Cons

Temple is very large and very siloed, so if you work in one department, don't expect to be able to move more easily to another part of the school than you would if you were just a random unknown applicant. Once you start working it will be clear which people there genuinely care about the school and passionately work to make it better, and which once just clock in and clock out and won't do a single thing that's not listed in their official job description. But that's bureaucracy for you!
