Pros
1) Mission: The mission behind Tempus can't be beat - giving patients and their doctors data so they can make informed treatment decisions so they can live healthier lives. The work is hard, but gratifying because I know that I am making a difference in the lives of people who need the help now. Plus, by generating and aggregating the data and making it useful for analyses, we're helping future people! 2) People: Many of the people that I've had the opportunity to work with are incredibly passionate, driven, and smart. 3) Fast Paced: Tempus moves fast and tries to be agile, which is what I was looking for when I came to this company. We're hungry to make change quickly, to make this field a better place for our patients. Because there's people who need our help now, it's up to us to do it. There's so much to do and I've never been bored. 4) Opportunities: The opportunities that I've had at Tempus are vast. I've had more insight and say and had the opportunity to build things how I thought they needed to be done. The biggest thing holding me back from making great changes, was my own limitations and time. There's a lot of personal and professional growth that I've experienced during my time at Tempus. There's employee resource groups such as the Women at Tempus mentoring program and Tempus Board of Education that help me grow outside of in-position learning.
Cons
Because of the fast paced nature, agile mentality, and rapid rate of change, that can cause feelings of thrash and uncertainty. As the company continues to grow, processes are being formed to help form more defined workstreams and swimlanes. There's also always more work that needs to be done than there is resources (but, that's the nature of our hungry appetite).
