Cons
I would caution clients and future employees about the Real World Science team. Leadership, particularly Vice President Katie Igartua and the other directors on this team, shows little concern for employees, clients, or the integrity of the science. Projects are advanced without regard for feasibility, and when they fail, blame is pushed down onto lower-level directors or employees. The team’s culture is not centered on meaningful science or client success—it is driven by appearances and revenue. Clients and projects are treated less as opportunities to advance research and more as money-making ventures, often at the expense of quality and ethics. Poor and missing data is often sold as the cure to cancer and all needs. Internally, the environment is plagued by backstabbing, favoritism, gaslighting, and gossip. While some leaders claim to support their teams, actions rarely align with their words. Those who don’t conform to the social club and flattering the upper management risk losing their positions. People are unhappy on this team.
