Pros

Buckle is definitely a great resume builder as far as obtaining personal skills as well as sales experience. I will say however, creating friendships with guest's who really appreciate customer service is a plus. By the end of your short journey at Buckle you will master the art of selling jeans or anything for that matter to a wall. I would like to say the whole magical 40% discount is "amazing", but let's not kid ourselves. Buckle's clothing isn't exactly quality.

Cons

Shoving product onto people. Its ironic how Buckle actually prides itself on "Guest Loyalty"...that is nothing but a joke. It is all about the sell. Let's not even get started on their horrible credit card program they offer. It is a must that an employee MUST obtain at least one Buckle card from a "guest" per shift. If you love ruining credit, then never mind that. When applying for this position, do not be fooled. They like to disguise their "job" with a fancy word like "career"...it's quite hilarious. Given the fact that someone can not even have a career making a base pay of close to nothing while pretending to be a robot like Step-ford wife who refuses no for an answer.

Pros

-Good work-life balance. -Team-building is encouraged. -The experience can vary by location. -Buckle has the potential to have some of the best retail teams, depending on the store. -There are opportunities for growth and career advancement for employees who have supportive leadership.

Cons

Management's willingness to lead, communicate effectively, and support employees is what creates opportunities for growth, but that was not my experience at this location. I felt the work environment was negatively affected by inconsistent communication, a leadership style that felt overly controlling, and discussions about employees that appeared to undermine teamwork and trust. I believe a more respectful, supportive, and collaborative approach to leadership would create a healthier workplace culture and better support both employees and the overall success of the store.
