Pros

Great discount for their employees at 40% off. Fast paced environment for the most part that can help the shift go by quickly. For managers they have a great communication system in place where they all have weekly conference calls with managers and area managers from their region. This creates a culture that is tight knit where everyone knows everyone. They have yearly meetings where managers go and then come back with new ideas on how to run the store and manage.

Cons

The turn around is extremely high as the company is always recruiting. People are rarely 'fired' they are simply no longer scheduled and their hours are slowly decreased. Compensation is poor due to the base being low. During times of slow traffic, employees are often paid below minimum wage due to no opportunity to make sales. Company culture for sales is extremely pushy. My manager also had us clocking into "sales" while cleaning the store when it was closed. That resulted in people often being paid their base which was below minimum wage and having no opportunity to make sales as the store was closed.

Pros

-Good work-life balance. -Team-building is encouraged. -The experience can vary by location. -Buckle has the potential to have some of the best retail teams, depending on the store. -There are opportunities for growth and career advancement for employees who have supportive leadership.

Cons

Management's willingness to lead, communicate effectively, and support employees is what creates opportunities for growth, but that was not my experience at this location. I felt the work environment was negatively affected by inconsistent communication, a leadership style that felt overly controlling, and discussions about employees that appeared to undermine teamwork and trust. I believe a more respectful, supportive, and collaborative approach to leadership would create a healthier workplace culture and better support both employees and the overall success of the store.
