Pros

-Great discount -Potential to move up -Time goes by quickly -(mostly) Fun co-workers

Cons

Terrible management. I've gone through three managers who never communicated to me what was expected of me or how I was doing. Management will not confront you if they have a problem with something you are doing/not doing, they'll talk to everyone else about you and you'll hear it through the grapevine, it created a great deal of hostility among each other. Extremely high turnover rate. There's a new team about every 3 months. I've asked for help on a project I've never done and wasn't in my job description simply to be told, "Figure it out yourself." Managers and co-workers have come in drunk/high and most are having inappropriate relationships. I've never seen one employee kept on the schedule after they put in their two weeks, the manager will reprint next weeks schedule without that person on it, whether they were a great employee or not. I put in my two weeks when I got a good opportunity somewhere else and was told not to come back! You'll work harder than you can imagine, just for a high five at the end of the day. I worked 8 am to 10pm for inventory and wasn't even given an hour break. Favoritism. I've seen countless great sales people get promoted very quickly and knocked off the pedestal even faster when they did something the upper management didn't like.If you're a leader and your personal life begins getting in the way, you're gone.

Pros

-Good work-life balance. -Team-building is encouraged. -The experience can vary by location. -Buckle has the potential to have some of the best retail teams, depending on the store. -There are opportunities for growth and career advancement for employees who have supportive leadership.

Cons

Management's willingness to lead, communicate effectively, and support employees is what creates opportunities for growth, but that was not my experience at this location. I felt the work environment was negatively affected by inconsistent communication, a leadership style that felt overly controlling, and discussions about employees that appeared to undermine teamwork and trust. I believe a more respectful, supportive, and collaborative approach to leadership would create a healthier workplace culture and better support both employees and the overall success of the store.
