Pros

I was with the company for a little over 10 years and was a store manager for about 8 years. The company was wonderful to work for nearly my entire career, the pay was great (as long as you were growing your store), and they were very active in managment training. Your superiors were there to support you and were always available when needed. I learned so much about building relationships, selling, training, and leadership in general. I loved the way all managers in the company got together 3 times a year in the midwest for meetings. They were always helpful and gave you a needed boost to go back and rock it out in your own store. I still shop excusively at my local store and it will always be the only place I buy my clothes. I still consider it a step above other clothing retailers.

Cons

The way I left was handled very poorly by those I looked up to and trusted and I felt almost gross after It was all said and done. They made some big changes in our area which was fine but aftewards it seemed they were intent on removing everyone regardless of what they were doing to grow. When I left I for the first time felt very undervalued and underappreciated. I felt I gave everything I had to the company and earned at least enough respect to be handled with care when I decided to leave.

Pros

-Good work-life balance. -Team-building is encouraged. -The experience can vary by location. -Buckle has the potential to have some of the best retail teams, depending on the store. -There are opportunities for growth and career advancement for employees who have supportive leadership.

Cons

Management's willingness to lead, communicate effectively, and support employees is what creates opportunities for growth, but that was not my experience at this location. I felt the work environment was negatively affected by inconsistent communication, a leadership style that felt overly controlling, and discussions about employees that appeared to undermine teamwork and trust. I believe a more respectful, supportive, and collaborative approach to leadership would create a healthier workplace culture and better support both employees and the overall success of the store.
