Pros

40% employee discount. Literally the only good thing about this place.

Cons

First, I was never trained properly because of "time restraints" so I ended up getting a huge attitude from and yelled at by a manager for something I didn't know. Second, they want you to be so pushy with the product. I had a customer who came in and bought 8 pairs of jeans in one go. It ended up being over $1,000 in jeans... And my manager was furious that I didn't sell her any shirts, accessories, etc. Third, they don't tell you this when they hire you and I don't know how it is at other stores but I stayed until 2:00am at least 1 or 2 nights a week refilling and refolding shelves. This did not work for me since I was in college and had class at 8:00am.. Needless to say because of this I quit after 3 weeks, but I would have eventually quit anyway because I felt like a peon and was not respected. Stay far away from this place!

Pros

-Good work-life balance. -Team-building is encouraged. -The experience can vary by location. -Buckle has the potential to have some of the best retail teams, depending on the store. -There are opportunities for growth and career advancement for employees who have supportive leadership.

Cons

Management's willingness to lead, communicate effectively, and support employees is what creates opportunities for growth, but that was not my experience at this location. I felt the work environment was negatively affected by inconsistent communication, a leadership style that felt overly controlling, and discussions about employees that appeared to undermine teamwork and trust. I believe a more respectful, supportive, and collaborative approach to leadership would create a healthier workplace culture and better support both employees and the overall success of the store.
