Pros

The discount and about half the people you work with would be the only pros I can think of.

Cons

Not only is in store management an issue, but higher up management is even worse. If you're interested in working for a brand that expects you to do their advertising because let's, be serious, when is the last time you saw an AD from Buckle that wasn't their own Instagram page or an employee's Instagram page. You also might get a promising interview where you share you need to work full-time and they only schedule you about 10 to 15 hours a week. You will only get more hours by having a high sales commission day. However, if you work in a slow store, the likelihood of you selling hardly anything will be slim to none. You can then expect those hours that you had expected to receive to completely dwindle until you are no longer employed there. If there is an opening at an American Eagle and you enjoy the same type of teamwork and sales and a passion for denim, I would advise applying there.

Pros

-Good work-life balance. -Team-building is encouraged. -The experience can vary by location. -Buckle has the potential to have some of the best retail teams, depending on the store. -There are opportunities for growth and career advancement for employees who have supportive leadership.

Cons

Management's willingness to lead, communicate effectively, and support employees is what creates opportunities for growth, but that was not my experience at this location. I felt the work environment was negatively affected by inconsistent communication, a leadership style that felt overly controlling, and discussions about employees that appeared to undermine teamwork and trust. I believe a more respectful, supportive, and collaborative approach to leadership would create a healthier workplace culture and better support both employees and the overall success of the store.
