Pros

401k and insurance I can't think of much more. You do make a "bonus" but is really commission. They don't call it that, because the new owner has a policy that they can take your 'bonus' for any apparent reason if they see fit.

Cons

Micro-management. Top heavy management. Lack of communication. The company cannot make a solid decision. They give upper positions to those who apply and then take it away and give to another party- with no professional reason. Be ware, this is a hostile environment- from the employer. No career opportunities that are solid, if you do get promoted, be ready to loose that position, simply because they make 'adjustments' they cannot afford and then call it a learning experience. Was a good company when Dad was involved, but now that son has taken over- it's a mess. Very controlling and continually taking benefits away slowly from the employees. Many who have been there a decade or more are also complaining that now they 'hate' a job they used to love.

Thank you for your review. I'd like to take the opportunity to address some of the issues you raised. On the matter of bonus/commission, we have always referred to supplemental income (income not part of base pay), as 'bonus', if the associate is in a non-sales role. The bonus guidelines are straightforward and provided to all bonus-eligible associates. The company manages using the Situational Leadership model, which provides a leadership match for each developmental level an associate may be on for a goal or task. Associates who are still learning a goal or task may be provided with more direction than associates who are not learning. We train all of our frontline leaders not to 'micro-manage'. We had over 40 promotions in 2017 and do not hand then take back promotions to give to other associates. We received feedback on improving communication in our 2016 associate engagement survey and have made a lot of progress in this area, including - creating a monthly newsletter for leaders, creating a bi-monthly newsletter for all associates, sending regular corporate communication on major activities occurring in the organization, holding an annual Steering Committee roadshow, where members of the Steering Committee meet with all associates to provide an update on the company and answer questions. We are working on more ways to communicate and connect with all associates. We pride ourselves on creating an environment where everyone feels valued and can provide suggestions for improvement. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
