Pros

There are chains all over the country, so you have the flexibility to move anywhere and have a job. This company is also extremely busy, so it is more stable than many restaurant jobs.

Cons

The company does not care about its employees. You are just a number. They want you to do things a very specific way, and yet constantly sets you up for failure by not allowing you the supplies you need to perform well. Also, because the company's motto is the "upmost guest satisfaction," even though there are 200 things on the menu we are supposed to still allow the guest to create whatever meal they want. There are 200 things on the menu and the guest can't choose one? Then the kitchen gets mad at you for making their life complicated and yet you are just following the company motto. Ridiculous.

The Cheesecake Factory Response

Thanks for the feedback. While we're happy you enjoy the flexibility and stability that we offer, we're really disheartened that you don't feel cared for as a member of our staff. The Cheesecake Factory started as a family business and is still run by the same founder to this day. One of his core values is treating our guests and our staff with respect and making sure that everyone has a great experience with us. The reason we allow guests to create their own dishes is because The Cheesecake Factory is supposed to be a place that everyone can enjoy. Our purpose is to create a wonderful guest experience for everyone, no matter what that entails. As for not having the right tools - that's definitely an issue. Are you familiar with cake talk? If not, log into the portal and use it. It's a forum where staff members can go and make suggestions to corporate. If you feel you don't have the tools necessary to do your job well, we need to hear about it and fix that immediately. We want you to feel set up for success so that our guests can get the experience they expect as well. I hope that your experience with us changes. If it doesn't, feel free to contact Staff Relations at corporate and discuss your concerns in greater detail.

Pros

The Cheesecake Factory is easily the best company I've ever worked for...and I've been through a lot. Beginning with the company culture, and extending all the way through operations and into our restaurants, I've been inspired every day by the approach everyone takes to their positions and their daily interactions. Other companies hold certain values, but everyone at The Cheesecake Factory believes in and lives by them every day. The warmth and dedication to their individual roles and responsibilities is only amplified by their commitment to integrity, decency, and doing whatever it takes to support every single person else around them. Everyone is not just accepted but welcomed with open arms for who they are and what they bring to the office every day. I couldn't say enough good about this place, and I hope to never leave.

Cons

Like every company that's been around for almost 50 years, it's a little slow to adapt to current times when it comes to technology or a few other recent best practices. But no one is closed to new ideas—it just takes a while for them to take hold. Salary levels are fine, but growth takes time at the company—mainly because no one ever leaves (in a good way)—and that may not be the best fit for everyone. But the pros about this place make it worth it.
