Pros

-Benefits (at the minimum and legal) -Your fellow hosts are fun -The people you meet and when you make a genuine connection

Cons

-Operations act like they know what they were doing but just hurts -Promises of growth but only for certain people Illegal Practices of OSHA and labor laws violations (Look up their court cases) -Illegally not giving breaks I was there ever since store launch and I never got promoted. However, people who were there for less did. I did majority of the work but other people got the credit. I don’t think it was lower leaders fault but operations. In the newsletter, they praised some but criticized others. Never called out the actually problems. Operations kept secrets with management that hurt the hosts. They never communicated no matter how many times you gave them a “coaching moment.” I applied to every opportunity but they never gave me or others a chance including interviews for TL or AM. That could be grounds for discrimination. But others, they gave them so many benefits and bonuses. The ones who they promoted did not know what they were doing, It took a whole team to report for someone to get a “coaching moment.” That including harassment and bullying. If one person reported it, 🤷‍♀️ No wonder there was a quick turnaround. 10 people quit including Management, TLs and hosts some without a two weeks. Operations would spy on you on the cameras. Always “keep it relevant” that includes not to have fun and have conversations. It made work dreadful. What made me mad, if you weren’t praising them or called them out on anything: you weren’t “promoting a positive attitude.” If you did not do it there way, well 🤷‍♀️. You got in trouble. That includes at the desk or in a game. They gave you so much to do but you were not allowed to multitask, so it was impossible. So many osha violations. It took days before they would get fixed and some aren’t. I wrote reminders, told management, told operations, told guest services…they never listened. However, the hosts had the clean up any messes management or other hosts made. They push max capacity so many times. They never cleaned the bathrooms or rooms probably, so mold and bugs showed up. They were so picky on who they hired. Almost, drew the line to discrimination. Barely any POC, minorities, or women hired. Some say it was pretty privilege. The worst of all is that some days people did not get a break. Some days you WOULD NOT get a BREAK In my state, you had to get a break after certain number of hours. They were so understaff and unprepared, so they did not give anyone breaks. They worked us like dogs because they want to utilize every minute. However, they still locked the door (which is illegal). They broke so many labour laws (however, how would the guides know that, they never posted it in a seen area). They sent people home who had only worked less than two hours. Not even paying for people’s commute. However, some people got full hours. They were days I almost lost my full time status because they kept sending me and others home. Then they begged you to come on your day off. They also had difficulty getting refunds to people. They tried to make the guest service not give refunds but credits. They have like three cases in the collection agency. This company preaches values and missions (ironic coming from a Christian not Christian company). Yet don’t follow them. Some can break them and get promoted. Some can do one mistake and get fired. Operations builds an awful foundations then keeps growing. On face it’s pretty, but inside it’s awful.

Pros

The team itself and the coworkers were rad. Everyone is positive and supportive but not in a toxic positive way.

Cons

--its really bizarre policy to make your plus ones pay for the game...on training games. And do you get paid while training on a game? Nope. Ive never seen any other escape room operate that way and it came off so greedy that friends I brought almost questioned me working there. -very passive aggressive store management. Yes its important to have professionalism but management will get on you for petty small things that made no difference to the guest experience. They also dont seem to be familiar with workers laws in the location theyre managing. --starting out they'll send you home early rather than taking time to train you on everything. If its a tiny bit slow, you get cut. This makes pay incredibly unstable and the pay was already abysmal for the area. --I didnt mind company values at first but it rapidly becomes clear that their generosity and integrity values are only for guests, not for employees. In fact they'll be incredibly stingy towards you. --once your hours stop getting cut, if you've stayed in the trenches long enough, now they suddenly put you on for 11 hour shifts. And schedule requests are often ignored. --if I ever end up rich I want to buy the company out and run it better out of sheer spite.
