Pros

Met some very nice individuals working at TGC. Families can be wonderful and benefits for administration are very nice

Cons

They do not pay a lot, no raises EVER. TGC doesn't stay committed to their employees, however, they expect a lot from the employees. I saw several phenomenal employees leave the agency and higher admin did not fight for them to stay. Why lose good employees because you do not want to pay even a little more for their worth, yet unnecessary jobs are created for "special" individuals.

The Guidance Center Response

We simply want to respond with a few factual statements so that you have the full story when considering working with us. Since we received a direct grant, staff have been given significant increases with some staff receiving as much as 12%. In addition, staff have received COLA when it has been approved by the government as well, which has been almost yearly for the past many years. We have reduced the cost of employee benefits greatly over the past several years. Lastly, staff with relevant additional education are paid more per the union contract. The review does not mention the extensive professional development and on-going coaching and professional supports that are available to our Head Start staff.
