Pros
The Scion Group is a great company to work for as a PART TIME employee. The pay is great while working as a student and taking classes at the same time. The property I worked for always took account of our class schedules and scheduled us around them. Most of the properties in their portfolio are class A and living there is convenient.
Cons
1. No employee housing discount: I always found it strange that the company didn't offer housing discounts for all of its employees but rather just management staff. However, they have recently done away with all employee discounts companywide whether you are management or not. This is just common courtesy for employees of a property management company, and as I have researched other companies this is not commonplace either. 2. No commission: Scion also just did away with commission bonuses. What they were aiming for with this, I have no idea. They attempted to give us a measly $3 increase in pay to make up for this but I don't believe $3 more an hour makes up for the amount of money you have the potential to make through commission. Also, in any profession, salespeople are commission driven. The removal of this aspect of the job decreases morale, motivation to sign contracts, and was incredibly dumb in my opinion. 3. Favoritism within the company and at my specific property is RAMPANT. I understand that in the workforce it's about "who you know and not what you know", but that should trump experience nor knowledge. Promotions are handed out based on how many times you've been to the bars to get drunk outside of work with upper management, and it's disgusting. This is just the tip of the iceberg in cons. There are too many to list and type at this moment.
