Busy Without Being Overwhelming - Assistant Project Manager The Vertex Companies Employee Review

Pros

Good level of creative independence on projects. I get to take the lead on a lot of my own projects and set the workload myself. No one ever pressures me with extra work if I’m busy. Pretty good office culture that allows the extroverts to be social and the introverts aren’t pressured to hang out.

Cons

Open floor office environment. Bring headphones and make a playlist. It’s not any worse than your average office, but I don’t want to listen to everyone’s phone calls. Also, there’s not a lot of training; management expects that you know what you’re doing.

Pros

Remote work, revised PTO and benefits recently.

Cons

The Vertex Companies talks a lot about performance-based pay, but the follow-through isn’t there. I exceeded expectations, had strong client relationships, and solid support from leadership—yet the merit increase felt like a slap in the face. When you’re told compensation is tied to performance but see little difference between average and high performers, it raises real concerns about how employees are valued. The company appears far more focused on protecting margins and pleasing shareholders than rewarding the people driving the work. It’s disappointing, because strong performance should be recognized in a meaningful way—not minimized.
