Pros

The flexibility was decent. I can’t think of many other pros.

Cons

I would not recommend this company. The pay isn’t very good, no opportunity for advancement. This company is structured to benefit a few people, everyone else is just there to serve them. I have never experienced such disrespect from my own colleagues.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts on your experience with VERTEX. It is concerning to hear your concerns about pay and advancement, as we pride ourselves on our internal career progression and on-going number of promotions. We have many, many employees who have been with us for years, have received career development and educational support and advanced considerably. Not all get the roles they would like, but we hire professionals and know that pay and growth matter. I am MOST concerned about your view that you have been disrespected by your colleagues or that someone is behaving in a dictatorial manner. We have worked hard to develop a culture where people can learn, collaborate and support each other, so that is distressing and I apologize. I would very much appreciate discussing that offline if you are open to that so that I can identify and address that sort of behavior. Please feel free to reach me at edavies@vertexeng.com - Erin Davies, CPO.

Pros

Remote work, revised PTO and benefits recently.

Cons

The Vertex Companies talks a lot about performance-based pay, but the follow-through isn’t there. I exceeded expectations, had strong client relationships, and solid support from leadership—yet the merit increase felt like a slap in the face. When you’re told compensation is tied to performance but see little difference between average and high performers, it raises real concerns about how employees are valued. The company appears far more focused on protecting margins and pleasing shareholders than rewarding the people driving the work. It’s disappointing, because strong performance should be recognized in a meaningful way—not minimized.
