Pros

Albeit the location was a bit remote, there was a benefit to that. It means bigger office space. I even had my own huge shared office with a name plague and all. Also, who would complain about working on a winery that has a restaurant/ wine bar. There was the perks of going to wine events in the middle of the day. You will be well fed. I actually thought the facilities workers were nicer than some people in my department. There was this one woman who had some personal problems. She clearly made working with her unpleasant. Though facilities and receptionist were all very sweet. Holidays you get cases of wine. It was enjoyable only if you had a Manager who championed you, because you do get a lot of interesting work, and day-to-day was not repetitive.

Cons

I had the pleasure of getting a great Manager when I started. This person empowered me, and gave me a ton of autonomy. After two years I was doing Managerial level work, until we got a new Director. That Director swapped Managers, and I was reporting to a different Manager. The new Manger seemed to have my best interest, but it was clear that they only had their interest at heart. He/she was very fake, and kept saying they would give me new projects or send me out on business trips and it never happened. The CMO also promised growth, and opened us to providing honest feedback, though be wary because they'll use it against you. I started to see a pattern of employees who had been there for over four years being promised growth and promotion getting nowhere. When I left within a year four others on the team left, because they knew it was a sinking ship. That Director and Manager still currently work at this organization both of them magically got promoted within two years to two ranks above them. The Manger is now Director, and Director is some Sr. level Director. Word on the street it was sketch how they got promoted. Moral of the story if you want growth dont work here. Also, its located in Livemore, CA a bit isolated. So if you are the type that likes to be in an Urban town don't work here. The salary was OK. There was annual 3% raises if you performed well, but even if you exceeded your performance they were stingy about title changes. Even if you didn't even ask for the raise you deserved!

Pros

The people you get to work with on a day to day basis are pretty great and passionate about what they do, which is a good thing for the wine industry which is really suffering right now

Cons

Upper management and leadership are stretched way too thin. Cost cutting at every corner. Management also plays favorites and does not provide the same resources or opportunities to all employees. If they like you and you give in to their every desire, you will go far... Otherwise not so much
