Thompson always excuses being understaffed, yet none of the prospective staff (okay, one) has yet to make it out of training in the six long months I have worked here. This place is sketchy in their practices and could not care less about their employees and, quite honestly, the children as well. The other RCS are amazing, but the supervisors, CEO, and COO could be more responsive and helpful (instead of responding "why did you copy me in this email". Supervisors spend less time in the cottages than they should to know what is happening. RCS has been made to stay past their scheduled time because the supervisor did not set a schedule (or put people on who explained they could not work already). Staff is always out of ratio, making it impossible to follow any restraint protocol, and the AWOL risk of children is very high due to there needing to be something for the kids to do and a lack of resources being given to them. You will be expected to stay late past your scheduled time and written up if you leave if staff is out of ratio (1:3). You have to find your coverage to use your PTO, or it will be denied (but how do you do this when they are understaffed), no lunch breaks for 12-hour shifts (not going to get food either), no 15 minutes breaks and no mental health days (which is a lot when you are breaking up fights every day). Honestly, I could go on and on. Staff are complacent as the system is so bad that no one can fix it without profound changes (like start all over). Also, you have to work EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND. (Su, M, T, W or W, Th, F, Sat) every other Wednesday.
