Pros
Lots of paid time off
Cons
Extremely low salaries. The pay froze in 2020 and raises never resumed more than a token level. Benefits were slashed starting in 2021. In 2023, when I started a new job, on the second month, the whole department was told we would not be paid until 2 months later (e.g. August rather than June). I never got paid for it. HR never resolved the issue and I left. I was never paid for the work I did in June. I had to get a second job just to cover food and cost of living with the recent inflation because pay was so low. I was a licensed attorney in a job that required licensure and training for many months and they still did not pay me a living wage. Positions for internal advancement are routinely taken down or not filled so applying for internal jobs is a very frustrating and disappointing process. There are also a lot fewer opportunities to advance beyond entry level than there used to be.
