Good and decent firm, but not perfect - Financial Associate Thrivent Employee Review

Pros

Autonomy to run my practice to fit my style; great local manager; an organization of Christians who help people make wise decisions with their money and live generously.

Cons

Not a "national brand," so beyond Lutherans not that many other Christians have heard of us! Technology an issue, as is back-office support. Be prepared, if you are a solo practitioner, to have to dig deep into your own pockets to finance your business.

Pros

- Excellent culture and people - Work life balance is better than any place I've ever worked; people work hard but support each other - Several fully remote opportunities - Competitive salary - Fantastic benefits: Still have a pension, generous 401(k) match, decent health benefits, PTO and a handful of paid holidays - Annual Incentive Plan is a huge draw

Cons

- Annual review and AIP weighting process is imperfect - You can "Meet expectations" but still earn less than your full AIP percentage because someone else in your department is a top performer - Frequent reorgs/restructures leave sense of unease; leadership announcements provide no concrete explanations and are very boilerplate - Rising up individual contributor job ladder is straight-forward but eventually most leadership positions are external and friends of other leaders ...
