Pros

Overall, Tock is a great company that provides a truly helpful product and employees are provided with excellent benefits. The environment is very welcoming and most of the employees generally believe in the cause of helping restaurants be more successful.

Cons

Sales reps are seen only as numbers - not people. Empathy is not a widely held value, and as the company quickly grew, learning and collaboration across team members was de-prioritized. Time off is discouraged despite “unlimited time off,” and there is an environment from the top-down where even recovery after a medical procedure isn’t necessary since you have numbers to hit. I was told multiple times not to eat lunch because selling was more important. Managers tend to play favorites, and don’t provide helpful feedback other than “you need to do more.” The sales team grew incredibly fast, meaning reps had less time for managers’ support but were expected to increase output. Reps were added to existing territories that were still growing, which created competition. The rationale for more reps in those markets wasn’t sufficiently explained other than the “need to grow”. Management expects all deals to close within 2 weeks, and reps are encouraged to bug prospects until they sign - relationship building isn’t possible on such a short timeline.

Pros

Opportunity to work with some smart engineers.

Cons

Some of parts of the legacy system was hard to work with. The product space was very competitive, leading to lack of growth opportunity.
