Pros

Cash pay is above market if you're outside US. They hire via B2B contract which helps partial tax evasion. Work-life is good if you're fan of discussing work instead of working. Certain percentage of smart and nice people hired in 2020-2021 still work here.

Cons

Toxic and unproductive culture which is essentially a reflection of CEO. He micromanages, only hires "yes-people" to C-level, stimulates quarterly 180 degree strategic changes and hates criticism. This is sadly ruining a formerly hyper-growth company. Horrible HR department too, tons of ex-colleagues laid of with zero feedback and compensation. Does not help our daily motivation to be honest.

Pros

Met some good dedicated employees and freelance workers.

Cons

Lack of any real industry solutions or capabilities since 100% of delivery services are freelance contractors. Model has been successful as providing staff augmentation to clients, but all intellectual capital and outcomes are owned by the clients or the freelancer. Toptal is simply a staffing platform broker who marks up the freelance talent. Great if you need a plumber, but not if you're planning to build a bathroom.
