Pros

22 days PTO, friendly work environment

Cons

NO flexibility. Underwriters and managers can work at home but even though account managers were given laptops, they would not allow us to work from home. With Atlanta traffic it just does not make sense to not provide a little flexibility in this for employees. At least one day a week. Very difficult to advance as many managers do not encourage it. Raises at the discretion of manager and it seems some managers are more supportive of their employees than others. Very high turnover rate so you always have to make changes to the territories. Very boring, most days there was not enough work to keep me busy.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
