Pros

I have worked here almost two decades and time has moved quickly. The folks are the best asset, down to earth, friendly. I recently participated in the company's Innovation "InJam", where a team of us from diverse offices, backgrounds and lines of business worked together to create a product that our company could use to help us do our best work. Needless to say, working with our "technical folks", claims manager and corporate lawyer on the team, really helped us come together to create an idea with a vision, and we actually produced the product and presented it! Now Sr. Management will review it. Now that's novel, to ask employees to create and communicate with Sr. Mgmt on what we need and they are listening. It's a great experience to participate in the InJam but also to know that it's not about "drill down" but about participatory innovation and implementation of ideas that help us work better. Now that's real communication amongst all of us at the company.

Cons

The work is intense, and sometimes time-pressured so that it can be a challenge especially when dealing with more complex issues . We also have to keep abreast of the new evolving laws as it pertain to claims (in my line of work).

Pros

Timely communication from Talend acqisition team. Scheduling the interviews with detailed information was very helpful. The interviewers were warm and supportive which made the technical and behavioral interviews feel comfortable to answer. Great company culture and familiar faces made a full time return after 10 years as consultant is very exciting.

Cons

Room for improvement regarding response time after each interview rounds.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
